By using istopmotion I was able to produce my animation using settings such as "onion skin" I was able to ensure that I could move my characters back into the same position I had them in before and I could also move them as much or as little as I wanted to. I also set it to 12 frames per second meaning I had to make sure for every second I had to face 12 frames.
Originally I had made a voice over with Saima to add to my footage which was supposed to represent the boxing commentators, they shared a few laughs and jokes and some ouchs and woahs. But I felt that it made it look too amature and too long for the short animation so I cut it form the complete copy.
Since I completed my animation I have shown it to various people of different ages look over my animation and I received good positive feedback as well as some ways I could've improved it.
My aim was to produce a short stop motion animation for an audience of people around my age. I wanted to create a short filler which I visioned would be before a show on channels such as Comedy Central or MTV. It was suggested that I upload it to YouTube since I saw last I have had over 50 views on YouTube.
In the screening/focus group the audience all knew the target audience I had in mind and where it would fit on TV.
I was told by my audience that the choice of "eye of the tiger" as my backing track suited the storyline as its a classic tune that usually occurs in a boxing parody, they felt that it was a good use of sound effects the slap sounded as if the snowman a twigs broke a little proving that he is the weaker of the two, the crowd in the background which included boos and cheers, I wanted to use a good range of sound as I feel with sound we can hear what's going on without looking at the visuals. Well that's the positives!
Now for the negatives I was told there was too much camera movement and not enough character movement, I was told that a way to of prevented this would've been to use fewer over the shoulder shots and more wide shots, but I had to film it this way as my characters had a tendency of falling over and I also felt by using more camera movement I could show the chaos of the fight scene.
Another thing I found was most of my audience wanted the snowman to win instead of the sun, but I knew from the start I wanted the sun to win as in "real life" the sun melts snow inspiration came from the wizard of Oz "I'm melting" as you can see on my blog.
Can you explain/expand on the feedback a little more. For example why did the camera move a lot and why did you not move the characters more instead? Please write a little more detail to cover everything with specific examples.
