Bagpuss Songs - 01 - We Will Wash It

This is a short clip from the 1970s british childrens show "BagPuss",in this clip we can see one of BagPuss' notorious sing alongs. BagPuss made up story lines and songs to go with traditional fairy tales and folk legends. each episode is shot using various characters all different dolls and toys which are animated using stop motion (frame by frame). Because the show had an audience of primary school children and toddlers the animation style didn't have to be of fantastic quality (that and it was made in the 70s). The creator and narrator Oliver Postgate had done many more children's tv shows some of which were stop motion animation like "The Clangers" and some hand drawn animation like "Ivor the engine".

There is no comparison between South Park and Bagpuss they are made for completely different target audiences as Bagpuss is made for a more younger audience of like 4-7 year olds, the use of real toys and the colours are there to keep the young audience interested and the storylines have morals for children to follow. The style is stop motion and robotics used for the motion whereas with South Park it's for a more mature audience 15 years and older now the animation style has changed from the original cut outs of sugar paper and stop motion to digital animation where the lines are a lot smoother and the movement is also more crisp.
